For alumni and members of the public who wish to join the Library

Associate Membership (personal research / borrowing

Associate Membership costs £50 a year and is available if you’re over 18 years of age and are not in full time education. It allows access to the upper floors of the Learning Hub and you may borrow five ’28 day’ loans at a time. Completing your application will include uploading:

  • 1 digital photo of yourself (head and shoulders)
  • 2 documents proving your name and address (like a recent utility bill, bank statement)
  • 1 form of photo ID (like a passport, photocard driver’s licence)

Photographs and documents submitted will be deleted upon collection of your access card.

There is an online form to complete for Associate Membership.

Please note: Applications can take up to 4 weeks to process. Membership does not include access to printers, photocopiers, laptops, PCs or electronic resources, nor does it allow books or rooms to be reserved. Members must wear the lanyard provided whilst on campus and are responsible for loss of, or damage to, books and other University property. Visitors (including under 18s) may not accompany members beyond the ground floor of the Learning Hub. Please be respectful of the staff and students who are teaching and studying on campus.

SCONUL Access

SCONUL Access is a reciprocal scheme which allows many university library users to access books, journals and study space at other libraries which belong to the scheme. You are only able to apply for SCONUL Access if you are a student or staff member at a participating institution. We have more information available if this applies to your circumstances.
