  • Introduction to Race Equity: This e-learning course offers a valuable introduction to race equity for higher education staff, covering essential concepts and practical considerations for promoting inclusivity.
  • Accessible Teaching and Learning: E-Learning to help you refresh and develop your skills in creating accessible digital content. The content is especially ideal if you’re an academic member of staff, as it provides guidance on how to create accessible content for teaching and learning.
  • Implementing Reasonable Adjustments: Learn how to take practical steps to ensure disabled people are treated fairly.
  • Menopause Awareness for Line Managers (though all staff will benefit from this course): equip yourself with the understanding of what you need to know and do to support menopause at work.
  • Safeguarding Essentials: Learn how to spot potential issues and play a positive role in protecting children and adults at risk.
  • Challenging Unconscious Bias E-Learning: Learn insights into how our own behaviour might be affected by prejudice and look to reduce or eliminate its influence in the decisions that we make (please note, due to limited licenses this course is only accessible to staff undertaking specific training. Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violencedevelop key skills to respond appropriately, empathetically and confidently to any disclosures of sexual violence that you may receive.

Consent Matters: a fully interactive, evidence-based online course which will help you to understand sexual consent, good communication, bystander intervention, clear boundaries, and mutual respect in relationships.

Wellbeing and EDI E-Learning on external websites

Zero Suicide prevention training: learn how to approach handling difficult situations and who to signpost people to. After completing this training you'll be able to:

  • SEE: recognise why a person may be at risk of suicide and identify some of the signs.
  • SAY: talk to someone if you're concerned and ask directly if they're thinking about suicide.
  • SIGNPOST: help them to stay safe for now and direct them to helpful resources.

Identifying Students at Risk: this e-learning package is designed to give non-specialist staff the skills, knowledge and confidence to offer a first line of support to students who may have mental health issues.

Supporting Wellbeing at Work

As well as the above training resources, the University supports several initiatives to support wellbeing for students and staff. Promoting and supporting your wellbeing is at the heart of better work and working lives.

The below resources are intended to support your mental and physical wellbeing and also enable you to support the wellbeing of others:

  • If you need immediate assistance, please seek support from your GP.
  • For more details about immediate assistance please see the Support and Self Help page on the staff intranet (requires sign in). This includes contact details for:
    • the University's confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). This free service provides mental support as well as covering a range of other issues including financial, legal or employment related, bereavement, relationship and childcare support guidance and advice on physical health issues.
    • confidential help through TogetherAll, a safe, online community where people support each other anonymously to improve mental health and wellbeing.
  • Other sources of help include your friends and family, physical first aiders and mental health first aiders (MHFAiders), your line manager and the HR support team.
  • Several initiatives are collected together under the Wellbeing Community and are accessible to students and staff.
  • Wellness Action Plans are an easy, practical way of helping you support your own mental health at work. And if you're a manager, allowing you to support the mental health of your team members. Anyone can complete a Wellness Action Plan. You don't need to have a poor mental health to feel the benefits. Having a plan just means that you have some practical steps in place to make sure you're supported when you aren't feeling great.
