Work skills E-Learning is available across several portals including Astute, NILE, LinkedIn Learning and external websites.

IT skills training and digital capabilities development

The best place to start with IT skills development is to use our top tips IT guides: ​Folder icon 10 IT Tips series  

What’s included within these guides are: 

  • GDPR: Email Do’s and don’ts, GDPR tips when using email, How to encrypt documents and more. 

  • Microsoft 365: Microsoft Forms, OneDrive, OneNote (online), Planner, Teams and Word (online). 

  • Microsoft Desktop apps: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word 

  • Chrome tips: how to get the most out of using the Chrome browser 

  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 tips: how to best use the Windows operating system 

Use these PDFs like a checklist. Simply scan down through them, get a feel for what the app can do and then dive in if you want to know more about anything in particular. All PDFs contain links to relevant LinkedIn Learning content so that you can see demonstrations or download training files to practice on yourself. 

Work skills E-Learning on Astute

  • UON Strategy 2023-2027: an introduction and overview of the new UON strategy, plus visit a series of Padlets, where staff can add their own ideas, but also view other people’s ideas and upvote them.

To log in to Astute, please:

  • Go to https://uon.astute-elearning.com (using only Chrome or Firefox)
  • Your username is your UON work email address
  • Your password is password1 (please note you will be asked to change this after you log in for the first time)
