As a UON staff member, you will need a PebblePad account setting up; PebblePad is separate to other UON systems. Please request this through the course leader.
Once your account has been created, you will receive login details to your UON email address. You will login using your staff login ID, please see the link at the bottom of this page for more information.
When you login to PebblePad, you will see the Pebble+ dashboard. Please use the link below to find out more about how to use the dashboard.
An academic assessor is any staff member working with learners to provide formative or summative feedback and assessment. As an academic assessor, you will have access to a full PebblePad account and you will have been added to the areas (workspaces) within PebblePad where you can view and provide feedback on students assignments.
Within PebblePad, students are organised according to their cohort and each cohort is added to a separate workspace. Within each workspace, students will then be set assignments which are usually in the form of workbooks.
The links below will give further guidance on using PebblePad as an assessor. Please also consider booking time with your Learning Technologist if you require further training or information.
As an assessor, the main area that you will use in PebblePad is ATLAS. To access ATLAS, start from your Pebble+ dashboard and access the blue circle icon from the navigation menu at the top of your page.
Your ATLAS dashboard will list all of the workspaces you are enrolled in and provide a link to access them.
To view the submissions for a particular workspace, select the name of that workspace and you will be taken to the list of submissions. If the students in this workspace have been set more than one assignment, you will find all of the submissions for each assignment in this area. You will be able to select an assignment and then filter or search for specific student submissions. You can then select a student's submission by selecting the title of their workbook.
For more information on navigating the submissions area, please use the link below.
PebblePad submissions are on-going, progressive pieces of work. At the beginning of the module or programme, students submit their blank workbook and fill in it over a certain period of time. Staff are able to access students' work as they progress. Assessors can give feedback in a number of ways and these are outline below.
Assessor fields are used by staff involved with assessing the student's work. This is any University of Northampton staff member who is a manager on the workspace or a practice assessor or supervisor out on practice -with whom the student has shared their workbook. Assessor fields form part of the workbook and are identified by the label which will say To Be Completed By and then will state which assessor is to complete it, as shown in the image below. Once feedback has been added, a label stating whether the feedback has been 'released' or 'unreleased' will be shown along with a green or red circle.
The three vertical dots next to the released label, will allow any assessor to edit their feedback. The options are shown in the image below.
For more information of assessor field feedback, please select the link below.
If it has been enabled within the workbook, block level feedback allows assessment to be added to every block where a learner has added a response. To find out more about this type of feedback, please use the link at the bottom of this page.
If you are a manager who would like to add block level feedback to your workbooks, please follow the guidance found in the link below or book time with your Learning Technologist.
A rubric is a feedback table containing scores or ratings to assess your work. It can be included in a workbook or template as an assessor field, or within a separate feedback template.
To add feedback, select the appropriate box on the rubric and then use the option Save and Release below the rubric. Once saved, further feedback can be added by using the 3 dots next to the green 'released' icon and then select 'Edit Existing Feedback'.
An approval is a colour-coded rating used to quickly assess learner work, at the block level with capability approvals, or the page level with asset approvals.
If capability approvals have been added to a workbook page, then a colour-code approval rating can be used for assessment purposes. Typically the colours and matching statements are:
An assessor can add an approval by selecting the blue, 'Add' option under a block and selecting the option 'Add Approval'
From the side panel on the right, the assessor can then select the correct approval rating, add any further feedback and then save or release the feedback.
