Viewing and marking student attempts

Please find the general guidance on marking here: How do I mark my assessments in NILE? The rest of this section shows where to view student attempts and how to apply manual marks and feedback where necessary.

Navigate to the Gradebook on the module and select the test from the list of Markable Items.

""

Marks are listed per student. Select a student name to begin viewing attempts.

""

The test questions and answers are displayed in full. Automatically marked questions show each given answer highlighted red or green with a Correct or Incorrect tag.

""

Essay questions will need marking manually. Review the answer and enter the score in the mark pill for each question. Manually entered marks will be combined with automatic marks to generate the overall score.

""

It is possible to view attempts per question instead of per student. This can be useful if you have one essay question to mark within an otherwise automatically marked test. Select the panel on the left side of the screen and choose the Questions tab to open this view. Scroll the page to view the answers given by each student and enter each mark in the mark pill.

""

Overall feedback can be given for each student. Ensure you are viewing the attempts per student. Open the panel to the right of the screen and fill out the text box for Overall Feedback. Use the Save button to commit any changes.

""

Please view the next section of this guide, 'Releasing marks and feedback to students', when you are ready for students to receive their marks and feedback.
