MyEngagement is an online resource to help you understand how well you are engaging with your studies. It provides a picture of how often you engage with your studies and a range of information, including your usage of University resources and your attendance. You can use this information in a number of ways:
• To reflect on the way you engage with your studies.
• As a resource to aid discussions with your personal tutor, teaching staff and others as they support you through your studies.
• It may be used by Personal Academic Tutors and other staff to log details of meetings or other important events, which you can view as well.
MyEngagement tracks your interactions with student resources. It can be helpful to be able to understand your own data and how you are interacting. While engagement correlates with success, you will also understand your own performance and how you work well. Information on MyEngagement should support this understanding, not replace it.
You can access MyEngagement using your University details at myengagement.northampton.ac.uk
MyEngagement measures your engagement in various ways, including:
• Physical attendance at timetabled sessions
• NILE activity
• Library use
• E-resource usage
This data is then calculated by MyEngagement to provide your engagement rating, which could be one of six:
The engagement ratings are designed to offer some feedback about your patterns of engagement over time to help guide your own activity with your studies- but they are never used as part of the assessment process. The engagement rating is just one indicator, along with grades, feedback and many others.
Your individual engagement is plotted on a graph to show your engagement pattern which can be mapped against others in your year and on your course. The engagement rating is calculated every night, so the information is as recent as the previous day’s activities.
On the graph, the blue line is your engagement, the red line is your cohort’s average engagement.
This information is also displayed as a bar chart to show the percentage of time spent in each rating and a calendar view to show the number of days. This reflects the same time period as the graph which can be altered by changing the date range.
Engagement is one factor that can help indicate how likely you are to meet your study goals.
MyEngagement can also help you check for yourself on attendance and other data held by the University if you have any concerns.
There is a range of information that you can explore in the different sections:
