NILE Assignment Submission Guide for Original Courses

What is a Blackboard assignment?

Blackboard assignment logoFor assessments requiring you to submit multiple files, or a video / audio, or a group assignment, your tutor is likely to set up a submission point on NILE known as a Blackboard assignment. The procedure for submitting a Blackboard assignment is slightly different from that of submitting a Turnitin assignment.  

This guide will provide you with step-by-step information on how to submit your work using Blackboard assignment.

How do I submit a Blackboard individual assignment?

 

  • In your your NILE module, click the link on the left to 'Submit your Work'
  • The button image for a Blackboard assignment looks slightly different to that of a Turnitin assignment.
  • Click on the title to begin your submission
     

In submit your work, click tht title of your assignment
 

  • This takes you to the Upload Assignment page 
  • Click Write Submission

  • You can use the text box to enter or paste written text 
  • Click Browse My Computer to attach file(s) -  you can add more than one file
  • The file names of the files you have chosen to attach will then be listed
  • Add any comments for your Tutor
  • And finally, when you have checked that you have included everything, click Submit

  • It may take a while to upload your attachments, depending on file size. On a successful submission, you will see the Submission History screen:

  • A success message provides you with the submission confirmation number.  You are advised to copy this number to keep as proof of your submission. Just select the text and use Ctrl-c to copy, then paste (Ctrl-v) into an application such as Word. 
  • You will also receive an email confirmation; if you do not see it, please check your junk folder 
  • Any submission text you have entered appears in the main panel
  • Any attached files will also be listed.  You can click the file name to preview it - a good idea to double-check that you have attached the correct file!
  • Once you have copied your confirmation number, you can navigate away from the Submission History screen.
  • You can return to check your submission, or to Resubmit, by clicking the title of the assignment in Submit your work

How do we submit a Blackboard Group assignment?

Any member of the Group can submit on behalf of the whole group. You may, for example, have worked as a group, and have been asked to submit a PowerPoint or other documents to be assessed alongside your Group Presentation. Check how many attempts you have - this is usually 3 - but not always!  Then submit your group assignment in the same way as for submitting an individual Blackboard assignment.
