NILE Assignment Submission Guide for Original Courses

Information for Students

Where do I find my Blackboard assignment feedback?

Click Feedback and Grades, then click the name of the Blackboard assignment - this takes you to the My Grades page.  From here you can filter items between AllGradedUpcoming and Submitted, as highlighted below. Select Graded to display all your grades for the module so far.

  • The grade is on the right of the screen.
  • Any feedback can be viewed quickly by selecting the speech bubble icon.
  • If your tutor has used a rubric and made it available to you, you can see it using the link on the left.
     

From the My Grades page, click Grades (top right)

 

Each item accessible from the My Grades page is described in more detail below.

Feedback

There are many types of assessment that can be submitted through NILE, including:

  • Video / audio
  • Journal
  • Blog
  • Multi-file
  • Group assignment


For each, you access your feedback in the same way: 

  • Go to Feedback and grades > Provisional feedback and grades
  • Click the name of the assignment to open your submission. 
  • The feedback will be on the right-hand side, together with a rubric, if used.

If a rubric was used you may click on View Rubric to see which levels of achievement you attained for each assessment criterion. There may also be some overall feedback notes at the bottom of the rubric screen:

Your feedback in Bb Annotate

When you submit an assignment, or view your feedback, you will see your submission in Bb Annotate viewer, which provides:

  1. Sidebar: View Thumbnail, Outline, Annotation, or Bookmark views of the submission.
  2. Pages: Use the arrows to jump to different pages in the submission.
  3. Pan: Move the submission on the page.
  4. Zoom and Fit: Zoom in and out of the submission or adjust the view to fit the page, fit the width, or select the best fit.
  5. Print or Download: Print or download the submission with the annotations. Please view annotated PDFs in Adobe Acrobat.
  6. Search: Search the submission for specific text

Bb Annotate

Annotations will be available only for assignments submitted in the following file type:

Many file types open in the viewer, but your instructor can annotate only these file types:

  • Microsoft® Word (DOC, DOCX)
  • Microsoft® PowerPoint®(PPT, PPTX)
  • Microsoft® Excel®(XLS, XLSM, XLSX)
  • OpenOffice® Documents (ODS, ODT, ODP)
  • Digital Images (JPEG, JPG, PNG, TIF, TIFF, TGA, BMP)
  • Medical Images (DICOM, DICM, DCM)
  • PDF
  • PSD
  • RTF
  • TXT
  • WPD

Bb Annotate is supported on current versions of Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari.
