Information for Students

Logging in to NILE

You can log in to NILE using a laptop/desktop computer, via a smartphone browser, or the Blackboard Learn app. To get the best experience from NILE, please make sure that you are using an up-to-date version of a supported browser, or an up-to-date version of the Blackboard Learn app.

The following browsers are supported for laptop/desktops and smartphones:

  • Google Chrome - most recent stable version and two preceding versions.
  • Mozilla Firefox - most recent stable version and two preceding versions.
  • Apple Safari for MacOS and iOS - two most recent major versions.
  • Microsoft Edge - most recent stable version and two preceding versions

The Blackboard Learn app is available for Apple and Android devices:

Where to log in to NILE

To log in to NILE, go to northampton.ac.uk, and select 'Student'. Please note that on smaller devices, you will need to select the 'burger menu' and choose 'Student Hub'.

At the University Resources Log-in screen, enter your University of Northampton LoginID and your password.

Your LoginID

For your LoginID, you will need to enter your eight digit UON student number, e.g., 20189651

If this does not work, enter your full UON student email address ending @my.northampton.ac.uk in the LoginID box, e.g., nick.cave19@my.northampton.ac.uk

If you do not know what your UON student number or email address is, please contact the Student Information Desk.

Your Password

If you have set up your University account, your password will have been issued to you. If you don't have a password because you have not yet set up your University account, please see the following guide:

If you don't know what your password is, or are having password problems, please contact IT Services:

  • If you are in the UK, you can contact IT Services in person at the Student Information Desk on the ground floor of the Learning Hub at Waterside Campus, or by calling them on 01604 893333
  • If you are outside the UK, please contact IT Services by emailing Int_ITSupport@northampton.ac.uk

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

In order to provide a secure learning environment, you will be required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when accessing the University of Northampton's online services, including NILE.

If you have any problems with MFA, please contact IT Services:

  • If you are in the UK, you can contact IT Services in person at the Student Information Desk on the ground floor of the Learning Hub at Waterside Campus, or by calling them on 01604 893333
  • If you are outside the UK, please contact IT Services by emailing Int_ITSupport@northampton.ac.uk

Accessing NILE from the Student Hub

Once you have logged in to the Student Hub, select NILE. You will then be taken straight to NILE and automatically logged in.

You can also find and access NILE by typing nile.northampton.ac.uk into your browser's URL bar and pressing the return key on your keyboard.

Or, select the following link to go straight to NILE: nile.northampton.ac.uk

You will then see the following screen. Select the 'Staff/Student Login' button, and then enter your username (your UON student ID number) and password to login to NILE.

What to do if you are unable to access NILE or the Student Hub

If you experience problems logging into NILE and you are in the UK, please contact IT Services either in person at the Student Information Desk on the ground floor of the Learning Hub at Waterside Campus, or by calling them on 01604 893333

If you have problems logging into NILE and you are outside the UK, please contact IT Services by emailing Int_ITSupport@northampton.ac.uk

If you receive any error messages when logging in to NILE, including either of the following messages, please contact IT Services for assistance.
