Anonymous Turnitin assignments do not populate the grade centre while anonymity is in place. When marking is split between staff, the markers will need to know which papers they have been assigned without knowing the author of each. This can be achieved by setting up groups in the course and using the filter options in Turnitin. The steps in this section of the guide detail the workflow required.
For the purposes of marking, this section shows how to create groups. Please be aware that the group names are visible to students. Instructors on the module will be able to see the group members, but the students will not. These groups can then be used to filter the Turnitin inbox where multiple markers are assigned a number of papers.
The following method shows how to create groups with random assignment. It is also possible to create groups with custom assignment and edit group membership individually. Details can be found on the Blackboard Learn Help page, 'Create Groups'. Please seek further assistance from your learning technologist if required.
Navigate to the Groups page from the main menu
Select the New Group Set button at the top of the page.
Name the group set appropriately so you can identify it later, e.g. Marking Groups.
From the pop-up menus at the top of the page, select Randomly assign and then the number of groups you require.
The groups will be created with the generic name New Group and an appended group number. Name the groups for easy identification by your markers.
NOTE: Ensure that the marking group set is kept hidden so individual students cannot see who their allocated marker is. This setting is available at the top of the group settings page. It should display 'Hidden from students' at all times.
Once you are happy with the groups, use the Save button to commit the changes.
Navigate to the Turnitin assignment in the course content and click the heading to open the Turnitin Inbox.
Select the name of the group set and then the name of the group from the popup menu.
View a paper by selecting it's title. The Feedback Studio view will open.
