University of Northampton, Waterside Campus, Learning Hub

Welcome to the website for the University of Northampton Library and Learning Services Conference 2023. Our conference theme is 'Everyone a Researcher'; this expresses the view in our department that every member of our teams in any grade or job role can be a researcher. Our staff conference is unique among library conferences by having all speakers and presenters members of staff within the department.

The department includes colleagues from Learning Technology, Learning Design, Learning Development, English for Academic Purposes and Library teams who will be sharing, presenting, and showcasing their research projects. Our approach to research is wide ranging and considers the nature of the work undertaken across the department. For example, you may attend a session about teaching critical thinking using magic through to a mini keynote about how library staff approach induction using escape room techniques, and everything in between.

How LLS defines research:

"LLS encourages all members of the department to engage in research activities to inform our practice and work. We champion cross-team projects that can inform our practice and be disseminated within and beyond the University of Northampton. LLS is focussed on research honouring the Changemaker values and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Research within LLS could be investigating an issue or challenge relevant to the department, university, or wider society. The findings and conclusions can be disseminated in many forms such as: staff meeting discussions through to peer reviewed books, and everything in-between."
