PebblePad

PebblePad is a diverse platform which can be utilised for a number of differing purposes. It was initially designed as an e-portfolio tool, which learners and professionals can use creatively to record and reflect upon their learning and professional experiences within customisable templates. PebblePad has since expanded to include the workbook feature which can be deployed as a resource in which learners can interact with course specific material, while incorporating records of events, reflections, evidence aggregated from placement scenarios and an activity log, that can be shared with tutors and assessors to review development and progress, and provide feedback at various points along the learning journey.

Key Features

  • Users have full control of their accounts therefore the tool is personal to users, and can be a repository for personal assets and reflections which the user can share for collaboration, for a specified amount of time, if they choose to.
  • Interactive workbooks include an auto-submit function which ensures learners are secure in the knowledge that their work, from the outset, has been received by assessors.
  • Users are given the option to continue using PebblePad after they have completed their studies. With an PebblePad Alumni Account (see link below for more information) students can still access their workbooks and portfolios as they move into the professional sphere, and can continue to add to their development records by providing evidence of the skills they have acquired, thereby increasing employment potential.

Where can I find help?

While PebblePad is a versatile and user friendly tool, we do advise that if you want to use PebblePad and/or incorporate it into your teaching and programmes of study, then you contact LearnTech for some introductory training before using the guidance in the following sections. Building and deploying workbooks requires preparation and advanced skills, so you will need to ensure that you give yourself the necessary time to learn these different areas before PebblePad can go live in your courses.

LearnTech provide a timetabled Introduction to PebblePad in our scheduled training programme, and bespoke training sessions, which will help to familiarise you with the platform, explain key features, and the specific terminologies associated with the tool.
