We are an approachable and experienced team, dedicated to helping students make the most of library facilities, resources and services. Students are encouraged to engage with us and are invited to help develop our collections by requesting resources to support their studies and to expand our Wellbeing Collection, comprised of resources to support the UON community’s emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
Committed to contributing to a positive and meaningful student experience, the Academic Librarians are active within staff and student committees, including Student Voice and Faculty meetings, Disability and Inclusion Coordinators, Supporting Black Students and the Prevent and Safeguarding Committee.
We engage with student voice meetings and faculty meetings, please invite us to come along.
Engaged with the local community, we offer Library Experience visits and provide opportunities for speakers to talk to audiences about topics they are passionate or knowledgeable about through our So, here’s the thing… series. We work with local schools, hosting work experience placements and delivering academic skills sessions to secondary schools and colleges and providing entertaining literacy-based activities for primary schools. In addition, we maintain the Community Bookshelves which provide free books for staff, students and members of the public.
