LLSS video creation guidelines

Screen capture

Screen capture is solely based on a screen, and will usually have a voice over but no people visible.

If it is a screen capture of an online process or platform, start from a browser window. Do not assume the student can navigate there without guidance.

Only show the relevant part of the screen to minimise distractions.

You should use Kaltura Capture and the Learning Technology team have a guide on how to download, install and use it.

Some phones and tablets will have the capacity to screen record. You can record a process and then store it for editing.

Video equipment

Other videos can be made on a phone or made using the camera app on the laptop, then stored in OneDrive, SharePoint or Kaltura. They can then be used in the editing software you chose. Kaltura accepts most common video file types.

Film in the highest resolution that you can. Some devices will have other helpful aids, like gridlines to centre your view.
