Can I renew my book loan?

Books on loan from another library (inter-library loan)

Book loans from another library can only be extended through the UON library as we must contact the lending library for permission. Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library. Please note, any books on loan from the British Library are not able to be renewed.

If you have a reference only loan from another library, you can request a renewal by contacting interlibraryloans@northampton.ac.uk no earlier than six days in advance of the return date.

If you have a standard loan book from another library and wish to renew your loan, you can do this by logging in to your library account on NELSON and going to the Loans tab. The option to request a renewal is only available six days before your due date. (Before this the loan will show as Not Renewable).

Once you click Renew, the status of the loan on your account will update to ‘The renew request will be handled by the appropriate library staff’. You will be contacted via your UON email address with a response.

Alternatively, email interlibraryloans@northampton.ac.uk and a library colleague will contact you via your UON email address with a response.

Will my book be recalled?

Books on loan from another library (inter-library loan)

Any books on loan from another library are subject to recall, so you may be asked to return the item earlier than expected. In these cases, please return the book as soon as possible. If you still need to look at a copy, we will try to source one from another location.
