Good practice for setting video assignments
Video and audio assignments are an effective way to assess students. However, some students may lack the confidence or skills to use these digital technologies, so here are some simple ways you can ensure your students are able to submit video or audio for assessment.
- Demonstrate how you expect your students to use Kaltura or other video and presentation tools to complete the assignment.
- Set up a formative submission point so your students can gain confidence in the steps required for the submission process.
- Share our written and video guidance which take students through each step of the submission process.
- Use Student Preview in Ultra so you can experience the video submission process from a student's point of view.
- Use Padlet so your students can share tips or ask you questions about the technology or the assessment brief.
- Advise students to log a Support ticket with the Learning Technology team to resolve any technical issues using Capture.
- Remind your students that live support after 5pm is limited and may not help with last-minute deadlines.
- If students fail to submit a video, contact your Learning Technologist for advice on any potential technical questions.
