How to submit video or audio for assessment

How to submit video or audio for assessment

Important

The University of Northampton requires that all video and audio recordings for assessment are first uploaded to the MyMedia video server before submission in NILE, whether you create your video using Kaltura Capture, PowerPoint or your mobile device. Students can no longer upload video directly into NILE.

Video or audio files can be uploaded through the use of Kaltura Capture, by navigating on your laptop or mobile browser to mymedia.northampton.ac.uk and selecting Add New or by using the Add New option in the Kaltura submission plug-in for NILE, which is explained in this guide.

Tips:

You can access our complete set of Kaltura guides here which cover every aspect how we use Kaltura at the University of Northampton.

You can also access our Kaltura Troubleshooter guide to find solutions to common problems.

If these digital technologies are unfamiliar to you, we strongly recommend you practice the steps ahead of any deadline. You can use our many guides to learn how to use Kaltura Capture but you can also ask your tutor to set up a test submission point for your class to practice the submission process.

If you have followed our guidance and still experience a technical issue, you can complete our support form for help. However, this service is UK office hours and an immediate response is not guaranteed. Technical support should be requested before your deadline or you risk failing your assessment.

Reminder:

  • Do not try to upload video or audio files as attachments to your NILE submission point.
  • Do not use the Share option from MyMedia as videos are set as Private and will not be visible to tutors.
  • Do not use Kaltura Capture to submit the work of another student.

Follow this link Submitting Video or Audio for Assessment for a short video guide to submitting video for assessment:

If you continue to experience technical issues, select this link to complete our support form.

It is essential you follow these steps or your submission will not be complete.

Amend the Display Name of the video or audio in the Insert Content Market item pop-out.

Your recording has now been embedded in the text editor ready for submission.

Select Submit to continue the submission process.

Select Submit from the Submit Assignment pop-out to confirm you want to continue to submit this recording for assessment.

The Your Submission was successful pop-out confirms you have completed a submission Attempt.

You can check your email for a confirmation of your submission and to review your attempt.

You can select Close to exit this pop-out confirmation screen.

You can select Submission if you wish to review your submission Attempt.

Select Start Attempt to make an additional submission.

If you wish to review a previous attempt, select Submissions then choose an Attempt.
