Elements of OSCOLA referencing

The OSCOLA system of referencing uses footnotes.

The following should be included in your work: 

  • Superscript number (1, 2, 3) in the text of your work together with footnotes 

  • Bibliography containing a structured list of any primary and secondary sources used.  

The Bibliography should be structured with primary sources listed first then secondary sources using relevant headings. For example: 

  • Table of Statutes (by jurisdiction, if appropriate) 

  • Table of Cases 

  • Journal Articles 

  • Books 

  • Websites
