I'm having trouble accessing NELSON

A guide to help you through access problems with NELSON (Northampton Electronic Library Search ONline)

There a couple of very quick things you can do that are likely to help and solve any problems. Give these a try first and move onto the other steps or contact us at libraryhelp@northampton.ac.uk and we will do everything we can to help you.

  • Have you got lots of tabs open on your device? A quick solution would be to close as many tabs as you can. If you can, try to just have two tabs open; one will be this guide and the other one is NELSON
  • Don't use a bookmark, try this direct link Or go through these instructions and accessing NELSON, avoiding using bookmarks is one of the steps
  • Are you absolutely sure your student number and password are being entered correctly? We all make this mistake at some point!
  • Are you using Chrome? Chrome browser is the most seamless one to use with NELSON
  • Have you cleared your cache and cookies lately? Web browsers often record little bits of information (cookies) to save time later and to help remember passwords, but sometimes they can get in the way and cause problems. If you are unsure how to clear your cache and cookies you can find instructions for doing this for your web browser through our guide. This sounds like a simple step but can often resolve the issues you are having.
